Today, we’ll consider one of the most sobering truths in Romans 2: the God who gives sinners over in history will one day render to every man in judgment. This is a heavy warning that no one can hide behind morality, religion, comparison, heritage, or outward respectability, because God judges without partiality and according to what our lives have revealed. Yet even here there is Gospel hope: if we stand in Adam, our works will expose us, but if we are in Christ, His righteousness covers us, and God’s kindness is still calling sinners to repentance and faith.
